Sports Ambassadors

Purpose: Mobilizing godly and effective Christian sports ministry leaders to disciple all nations. History: The President’s wife Madame Chiang Kai-Shek invited the team in late 1951, to which 7 Taylor University and Wheaton College athletes responded as Coach Don Odle led them. The first Sports Ambassadors’ team was in 1952 to Taiwan for 7 weeks. The team played 87 games before 300,000. Ministry Activities: 1. Evangelism – sports teams playing then preaching as they work with local church. 2. Encouragement – partner with local church and assist pastor in reaching his community/neighborhood. 3. Edify – disciple team members during the schedule. 4. Equip – train leaders in the church to do sports ministry on a regular basis (not simply one time events). Sports: Basketball, Mens’ and Womens’ Volleyball, and Softball Where Sports Ambassadors Works: Asia, Latin America, and Africa |
