Church Sports International
|
Purpose: Church Sports International is a mission committed to helping churches as they seek to use sports and recreation as a vehicle for planting or growing churches. Our goal is to stimulate church growth (numerically and spiritually) through creative evangelism and discipleship through sports and recreation. History: CSI was founded in 1992 and has worked in over 60 countries and in 30 states in the last 14 years. CSI resources are found in nearly every state and over 120 countries. Ministry Activities: The mission of CSI is carried out through the hands-on consulting, training or seminar work of Rodger Oswald, through various media resources (including the Higher Power Ball – using colored panels on sports balls in order to present the gospel) created by CSI and available on the CSI website, through hands-on ministry visits (individually or with a ministry team), and through course work at William Jessup University. In addition to the equipping components of CSI, the Global Network Partners strategy seeks to recruit, train and send international associates, while Project Reclamation is a strategy whereby CSI gathers new and used sports equipment and sends it to churches in developing nations to assist in starting church-based sports ministry. CSI is also in partnerships with OCI/Sports Ambassadors in order to place sports ministry specialists on field teams as well as on traveling sports missionary teams. Sports: CSI recruits and convenes teams for sports that are culturally relevant to the country of intended ministry. Where CSI Works: Throughtout the world. |
