Who we are

In October 2004, the International Sports Federation decided to revamp the mobilization leg of the ministry, which resulted in the birth of SportsPlus. This happened for several reasons. ISF wanted to trademark themselves by creating a brand name that would be catchy, trendy and attractive to college students and young adults. ISF wanted a mobilization department that was focused on discipleship of the volunteer while still meeting the needs of the missionaries. This decision was seen as a natural expansion of the original vision of ISF. This branch has in no way diminished the focus of ISF’s original vision; however, efforts have been expanded to emerge a new generation of missionaries through discipleship training.

SportsPlus is a service of the International Sports Federation that enables volunteers to use their God-given talents and skills to make an eternal difference throughout the world. We take people to new levels of service, understanding and commitment as they experience God through unique opportunities.

MOBILIZES, TRAINS, AND DISCIPLES

Our strategy is to travel the world, tell people about Jesus, and to train believers to obey Him. We follow Christ’s leadership as He continues to open doors through sports. We recruit talented volunteers with a passion to explore all that God might do with their submission and sacrifice. Because of this, lives are changed. There is peace and joy in the hearts of those who discover salvation. Equally important, there is amazing growth and fulfillment in the lives of obedient disciples.

SPORTS MINDED VOLUNTEERS

The world is fascinated by the competition and joy of sports. This intense interest in sports bridges the gap that culture and language can cause. Sports connect people in non-threatening ways. Many countries closed to any type of Christian witness have offered open invitations for athletes and coaches to come invest time and energy in their sports programs.

SportsPlus sends volunteers through God’s open doors to connect with hurting people in their own country. A basketball can be a tool for delivering a message of peace. A Frisbee can bring two totally different people together in Christ. SportsPlus volunteers are seizing opportunities by making the most of their talents and God-given passions.

TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS

People are reached through relationships. Jesus was the perfect example of building meaningful relationships in order to meet the needs of others. By taking a genuine interest in the lives of others, we earn the right to share with them what God has done in our own lives. Authentic relationship is at the core of discipleship and evangelism.

FOR THE GLORY OF GOD

There are many awards, prizes and goals that an athlete can strive to achieve. With SportsPlus there is only one.
